01 · Mechanism
Rack and pinion, for a jerk-free close.
A rack and pinion mechanism controls the swing, so the door closes smoothly instead of snapping shut.
02 · Control
Two speeds. One for closing, one for latching.
Separate adjustments set how fast the door swings and how gently it latches, for a door that shuts fully without slamming.
03 · Adjustment
Front control adjustment.
Sterling was the first in India to manufacture front control adjustment in door closers, now offered on selected models.

Extruded aluminium, precisely machined.
Housings are extruded aluminium alloy, machined and finished in our own ISO 9001:2015 plant, with painting and powder coating in-house.

How to measure a door before choosing a closer
Most wrong closers are ordered off a guess at the door. Five measurements remove the guesswork, and none of them need special tools.
What size door closer do I need? EN sizes explained
Every door closer is sized against two numbers: how wide the door leaf is and how much it weighs. The EN power size scale puts both on one axis.
Floor spring or door closer? How to choose between them
Both control how a door closes, but they solve different problems. The deciding factors are usually the door material, the weight and whether anything can be seen.

Are Sterling door closers ISI marked?
Yes. Sterling door closers are ISI marked to IS 3564:1995 under BIS licence CM/L No. 7700126309, and Sterling floor springs are BIS certified under CM/L No. 7700249814. Models are tested up to 5,00,000 cycles.
Which Sterling model do I need for my door?
Size by door weight and leaf width. Up to 45 kg: DC 1500 (EN 1–2). Up to 60 kg: DC 1800 LA or DC 1820, or the concealed DC 2700 (EN 2–3). Up to 80 kg: DC 2000 or DC 2600 (EN 3–4), or the concealed DC 2800 (EN 2–4). Up to 100 kg: DC 2900 (EN 4–5). For glass or heavy doors, the FS 1000 floor spring covers 60–80 kg and the FS 3000 covers 90–120 kg.
Do you quote for projects and bulk orders?
Yes. Sterling does not publish list prices, because the price depends on the model, finish and quantity. Send a door schedule with leaf widths, door weights, mounting type and quantities, and we will size and quote every door against it.

How do I adjust a door closer's closing speed?
Door closers have two small adjustment valves, usually marked "Close" and "Latch". Turn them slightly, about 1/8 turn at a time, with a screwdriver: clockwise to slow the door down, anticlockwise to speed it up. Closing speed controls the swing from open to about 10–15 cm before the frame; latching speed controls the final click as it shuts.
